Catalyst

Definition

Catalysts are agents of change. According to the Department of Energy, "A catalyst is a substance that speeds up a chemical reaction, or lowers the temperature or pressure needed to start one, without itself being consumed during the reaction. Catalysis is the process of adding a catalyst to facilitate a reaction."

In CASFER, we utilize catalysts in our research in order to break down waste streams and in the development of CASFER fertilizer. Additionally, CASFER hopes to be a catalyst in the nitrogen circular economy, bringing about sustainable solutions to some of the world's biggest problems.
