Food Security

Definition

According to the 1996 World Food Summit, food security "having, at all times, both physical and economic access to sufficient food to meet dietary needs for a productive and healthy life."

This means that there is a physical availability of food, an economic or physical access to food, a proper utilization of food, and a stability amongst the previous three requirements. There needs to be enough production of food and this food needs to be properly distributed to all communities through easily accessible means. Further, people need to learn how to properly balance their diet and prepare their food, so that they can maximize the nutrional value of their food.

CASFER seeks to increase food security by improving fertilizer production techniques, and therefore, increasing the physical availablility of food. We hope to create a future with food security through sustainable practices.
