Leaching

Definition

Leaching is the loss of nitrate (N) as water drains through the soil profile, moving out of the range of plant rooting systems. Leaching reduces the nitrogen available for plant uptake, decreases soil fertility, and contributes to environmental problems. With CASFERs E-grow fertilizer, nutrients are released gradually leaving less unused nitrate in the soil to be washed below the root zone by rain.
