Sponsored Project

Definition

The NSF defines sponsored projects as "projects with a restricted or directed purpose that is specified by the funding source. Sponsored projects augment the Center's core activities. The award goes directly to the Center for a specific project and is classified as restricted cash. Examples of sponsored projects include REU supplements, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) awards to the Center, and industry-sponsored projects with clearly intended outcomes or activities."

The funding from these projects comes from a tertiary source, something that isn't the NSF or our partner institutions, and work toward the common goal of the Center. These funds must be used toward the specified project. Sponsored projects help with supplemental funds of CASFER, as well as, helping increase the longevity of the Center. These projects also bolster the thriving convergent research that CASFER hosts, and expands the reach of our Innovation Ecosystem.
